Album Artwork: Lose Your Head - London Grammar

London Grammar is a personal favourite of mine artist wise, and so I was excited to do this cover design. Their music is very atmospheric, often being used in films and TV, and this album is emotive, ethereal and empowering. I wanted to push the boundaries a little bit with the overall aesthetic, as their previous album and single artwork has tended to be quite dark and serious. The song Lose Your Head creates such a vibrant, whimsical and soft visual in my mind, so I wanted to really focus on that. I played with the idea of an escape from your mind, as that’s what their music provides. I created dreamy, understated digital artwork layered with photography of a female, without too much focus or ‘realness’ to the person. The glowing galaxy that flows out of the persons head is to show the power of the female mind as the subject matter of the song and album relates to power in relationships and misogyny. The typeface is modern and simplistic, with lots of open space and beautiful curvature to compliment the feminine energy and keep the overall design understated and beautiful.
